Jail Records are quite often mistaken for a criminal background check. A prison record and a jail record search only provide information regarding people who have been incarcerated within the county, state, or federal level.
Prison Records include information about a person’s entire incarceration time, such as case numbers, time of incarceration, charges, parole, whether they’re still in prison, etc. Prison records are a complete history of the individual while they were in a correctional institution in the United States.
There are a numerous reasons why someone would wish to search for a prison and/or inmate search. It could be anything from hiring someone, going into business with an individual, to check up on a new boyfriend \ girlfriend or to conduct genealogy research - the reasons are endless. Whatever your reason is, when you’ve decided you need to find out if someone has been arrested or not, or what is contained in their prison records, there is some information you need to know.
For one, there are three basic types of prison records. In order to know what type of record you need, it’s essential to understand the differences. The three types of prison records are:
1.County Prison \ Jail Records – are held at the county (or local) level, which means each locality will have their own laws on what is held as a public record and what is not, as well as what information may be found in the record itself. Usually, the name, age, sentencing, register number, and confinement data are all released.
2.State Prison \ Jail Records – are held at the state level, which means that each state has its own laws on what is held as a public record and what type of records they provide – including what can be found in the records themselves. The majority of records will contain details such as – name, age, case numbers, charges, periods of incarceration, county where the case was first filed, and parole status (if applicable). It’s also important to realize that some states will provide records of currently incarcerated prisoners only, while others will provide records from past periods of incarceration.
3.Federal Prison \ Jail Records – are held at the federal level (Department of Corrections). These records could include name, age, sentencing, register number, and confinement data. Usually, only individuals that have either been convicted of a federal crime, or are charged with a federal crime and are awaiting their trial, will be incarcerated in a federal prison.
In addition to understanding the types of jail records, you’ll also need basic identifying information in order to proceed with either an arrest record or a prison record search. At the very minimum, the full name and the date of birth of the individual in question are necessary. Of course, the more data you have, the better the chance of receiving factual and complete information quickly. Especially when searching for prison records – if you have a social security number, last known address, and/or the correctional institution the individual is being held (or was held) at, you’re far more likely of accessing the records you need.
We can give you access to a wide variety of databases to search through! And you can continue to search as you find more identifying information to expand your selected criteria with. While you may start with only the basic information, one of your searches with us may yield more information you can use in your next search. Our system allows you unlimited use of our databases – so as you find new data, you have the resources at hand to narrow your results. This means a far greater chance of actually receiving the records you need to have.
In addition, your results are delivered to you instantly. While most other online search organizations can take up to three days to deliver a report to you, via your email address, we give you this information immediately. This gives you peace of mind, so you can make the decisions you need to make, when you want to make it.
After all, your goal is to get the information you need. Our goal is to make sure you do.

Utilizing online sources can smooth the rocky road so you can achieve the documents you need in record time – when you want them!
